Describe the Job in Plain English
Forget digging through catalogues. Just tell the AI what you’re doing as if you were explaining it to a mate or sending a WhatsApp to a customer.
“Build a 6 x 4 m patio in Indian sandstone. 100 mm Type 1 sub-base, full mortar bed, falls away from the house. Include waste removal and any drainage needed.” Works for patios, extensions, fencing, driveways, mechanical jobs, agriculture, maintenance – any UK trade.
Pro tip: mention sizes, depths, access and anything unusual (tight access, poor ground, existing services). The more context you give, the more accurate the materials and method.
Step 02
AI Materials & Quantities
The AI turns your description into a structured materials list with sensible units and quantities. It uses UK-style logic, not random guesses.
- Aggregates in tonnes / bulk bags based on area and depth.
- Cement in 25 kg bags based on mix ratios.
- Timbers, steels, pipework in lengths (m) and counts.
- Fixings, sundries and plant flagged where needed.
You can edit every line – change titles, spec/size, quantities and rates – and select suggested products from the At Trade Price catalogue when you’re ready.

Method, Hazards & Planning (Tier 2+)
On Tier 2 and Tier 3 the builder also generates a structured Method & Considerations section: a clear, step-by-step way of carrying out the job plus notes on risks and good practice.
- Logical phases (set-up, groundworks, install, testing, handover).
- Key checks, tolerances and sequencing.
- Considerations / hazards you should think about before starting.
You can edit these sections, add your own points, and copy them into your own planning or safety documents. Full RAMS-style documentation support sits in Tier 3.

Quote Cart, Best Price & Client PDFs (Tier 3)
Once your materials are right, you tick the items you want and add them to your Quote Cart. From there you can:
- Click “One-Click Best Price” – we send your list to our merchant network and bring back the best confirmed price.
- Build a client-ready Quote or Invoice PDF (Tier 3) with your own logo, colours, bank details and payment terms.
Tier 3 also lets you set VAT, deposits and quote expiry, add your customer’s details, and include a payment link & QR code so customers can pay you faster.
PDFs are produced with your branding only – no At Trade Price logo in front of your customer.

What’s the difference between Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3?
In short: Tier 1 gives you materials, Tier 2 adds method & planning, and Tier 3 adds client-facing documents and cloud history.
- Tier 1 (Free) – 3 jobs/month, AI materials list, unit-aware quantities, Quote Cart & One-Click Best Price. No method screen, no PDFs, no cloud saving.
- Tier 2 – Unlimited jobs, everything in Tier 1 plus full Method & Considerations / hazards screen for internal planning.
- Tier 3 – Everything in Tier 2 plus client-ready quote & invoice PDFs, RAMS support, your branding, quote history and saved jobs in the cloud.
What makes a good job description for the AI?
Good prompts are specific and practical. Include:
- What you’re doing (patio, trench, boiler swap, new circuit, fencing, etc.).
- Sizes & depths (area, length, thickness, number of rooms / bays / posts).
- Existing conditions (old slabs to remove, poor access, steep slope, existing services).
- Performance requirements (loadings, finish level, insulation, drainage, testing, warranties).
- Any customer preferences (colour, product type, brand flexibility, “match existing”, etc.).
You don’t need to write like an engineer – just be clear. The AI will turn it into structured materials, a method and (on Tier 3) client wording.
Can I change the materials or quantities the AI suggests?
Yes. The AI is an assistant, not the boss. Every single line in the materials table can be edited:
- Change the title or spec/size.
- Adjust quantities, units and rates.
- Add your own custom lines (labour, plant, sundries, contingencies).
Always sanity-check quantities against your own experience, drawings and site conditions before ordering or quoting. The tool is designed to speed you up, not replace a competent tradesperson.
Does Tier 2 let me send quotes directly to customers?
No. Tier 2 is for internal estimation and job planning. It gives you:
- The AI-generated materials list and quantities.
- The Method & Considerations screen for planning and risk assessment.
To generate professional, branded PDF Quotes and Invoices to send to customers, you’ll need Tier 3.
How does “One-Click Best Price” actually work?
Once you’ve checked your materials, you tick the items you want priced and add them to your Quote Cart. When you submit:
- We receive the materials list and delivery details.
- We send it to suitable merchants in our network (local and national).
- They price the whole list and send us their best figure.
- We come back to you with the best confirmed deal we can find.
You can then choose whether to go ahead, tweak quantities, or use the pricing to build your own client quote.
Is my margin or customer information shown to merchants?
No. Merchants do not see your profit margin or what you’re charging your customer – they only see the materials, quantities and delivery requirements they need to price.
Your customer contact details are for your quote / invoice and are not used to market to them on behalf of merchants.
Is this tool compliant with UK Building Regulations?
The builder is designed around typical UK trade practices, units and logical methods. However:
- It does not replace the need to follow current Building Regulations, manufacturers’ instructions, BS/EN standards or local authority requirements.
- It is an assistant – you remain responsible for ensuring compliance, safety and suitability for the specific job.
Always verify critical details (structural elements, fire, gas, electrical, lifting operations, etc.) with the relevant regulations or a competent professional.
Does it work for non-construction trades?
Yes. The AI is designed to cope with any UK trade, not just construction – for example:

Can I use the AI on site on my phone?
Yes. The builder is designed to work on mobile, tablet and desktop. A good connection will give the smoothest experience, but you can:
- Walk a site with your phone and type the description as you go.
- Generate the plan and materials on site.
- Fine-tune and build the client PDF later on a laptop if that’s easier.
Is the pricing tax deductible?
For most trade businesses this counts as a software / SaaS expense and is usually 100% tax deductible as part of your normal business costs. Always confirm with your accountant for your specific situation.
Can I cancel or change tier at any time?
Yes. There are no long-term contracts. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from your account area, and any change will take effect from the next billing cycle.
What if something looks wrong or I get stuck?
If a quantity, method step or quote line looks wrong:
- Edit the line directly – you’re always in full control.
- Regenerate with a clearer job description if needed.
- Use your own judgement, drawings and site measurements to sanity-check.
